Project Overview
This academic project involved the integrated design of a commercial and industrial building based on a predefined programme of requirements and urban planning conditions. The project covered multiple disciplines, including architectural design, structural engineering, building physics, construction technology and construction planning.

The building is organised into two separate volumes: an office building positioned along the street and a workshop located towards the rear of the site. A courtyard is introduced between the two volumes, creating a clear spatial separation between the different functions. In addition to providing daylight and outdoor space, the courtyard acts as a buffer zone between the workshop and the offices, helping to reduce the transmission of noise from the industrial activities to the working environment.

The structural design consists of a steel load-bearing structure supported by a piled foundation. Structural calculations were carried out for both the steel structure and the foundation, integrating the structural system with the architectural layout and functional requirements of the building.

Building performance formed another important part of the project. The heating and cooling requirements were analysed to determine the required system capacity, while the necessary ventilation rates were calculated for the different spaces. An acoustic design was also developed, with particular attention given to controlling noise transmission between the workshop and office areas.

The technical development of the building included the selection and integration of building services, detailed construction design and the development of key building junctions. In addition, the construction sequence was studied to establish how the building could be efficiently realised on site.

The project demonstrates an integrated design approach in which architecture, structural engineering, building physics, building services and construction technology were developed together as parts of a single building concept.
