Project overview
De Gouwehal is a modern multi-purpose sports hall in Waddinxveen, designed with a strong focus on sustainability, circularity and future adaptability. The facility accommodates a variety of indoor sports and is directly connected to the clubhouse of local football club ASW, allowing several facilities to be shared.
A distinctive feature of the building is its circular and demountable design. Reused timber and steel from existing buildings were incorporated into the new structure, while other building components were designed with future disassembly and reuse in mind.
In collaboration with another engineering consultancy, the aluminium curtain wall system was structurally analysed and calculated. The façade itself was designed as a demountable system, allowing its components to be disassembled and potentially reused in the future.
